With two senior (age) players returning from injury, imagine both their surprises when their first 4 touches were to take and receive a push back. 3 down before the Fitbit (other exercise hardware options are available) had clicked to 100 steps, this could be hard work from here. Before the pedants reach for their keyboards, it was our push back to start the game.
To be fair, G&W are top for a reason, they were well organised, had a clear game plan, executed it well and were clinical at the business end.
We were a bit of a scratch team, we had to spend more time in trying to work out names than how to win the game. But, the key takeaway is that we did not crumble or give in, in fact as the game went on, we got stronger and stronger and in the end managed to make a bit of a game of it.
We will play worse than this and win, G&W will play better than that and lose, but this was just their deserved day.
PoM was ex skippy Billane, who led the line and caused havoc all game, and with 2 deft touches that left a whole tree of Gossamer Winged Butterflies gasping, quietly, bagged a beautiful brace of goals.
