On Wednesday 27th July, Burnt Ash (Bexley) Hockey Club made a trip to Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre for a coaching day

It was attended by 17 boys and girls from the youth section aged between 11-14 and accompanied by BA coaches. Although the youngsters did not seem overawed by training on the Olympic pitch, they were impressed with the sprinkler system! The day consisted of two sessions with a ex national league coach either side of lunch. The training consisted of different warm ups, some drills, game situations and finally a game. All of the children, whatever their ability were integrated into the exercises and kept up their energy levels, although there was a dip after lunch! For one lucky goalkeeper there was a day of personal attention both by the coach Asif and the BA coach Karen Sells (Sellsey), although he did do the warm up with everyone else!

This day was funded by the Jack Petchey leadership award given to Keith Butler (Youth Section parent helper) and Keith was able to come along in his lunch time to see how it was going.

Congratulations to all the youth section members and thanks to Janet Baldwin who organised the day along with Jo Gillett, Kathy Carrick and Karen Sells-Brown and Alex Neofitou and Tom Spooner for giving up a their time to help out on pitch and take photos. All the youngsters behaved very well and were a credit to the club.
